Home Updates, as Promised

Remember that cool make-over our apartment got over Christmas break? If not, that's ok - here it is! Our apartment manager and maintenance men have been absolutely wonderful to work with! Our apartment is small, and old, but they do their best to keep it up.

Over Christmas break we asked them to do some work on the bathroom and kitchen since it was really starting to look bad. When we were driving back from Albuquerque after New Year's, we got a call from our apartment manager asking if we had a place to stay that night.
. . .  uh, what?!

When doing some work in the bathroom, we found some mold under the vanity, shower, and floor all the way through into the kitchen. We had to pull out the shower, re-cement the base, give you a new vanity, and redo the floor after we cleaned the mold up with some acid.

Oh, that makes perfect sense. Thank you for doing that. We can find a place to stay.

So we ended up going to the Jensen house for the night (and Matt for a few nights). The apartment looks a lot better now though! What do you think?

I apologize for the lack of 'before' picture with the shower. It was a square, white shower with sliding doors that close in the corner. Really old and molding in all the cracks, crevasses, and corners. Apparently every time we stepped on the drain a bit of water seeped into the floor; the drain was in the middle of the shower floor.

We love the updates - it definitely makes our place feel more like home! Thank you Oaks Hills Rentals (and Peter and Ben, our maintenance guys).

Weddings! I love weddings! . . .

Over the Christmas break, one of my best friends got married! I cannot tell you how happy Matt and I are for her and her new husband! They are super cute together! We were lucky enough to be able to attend the sealing - so beautiful. A temple wedding is the way to go! (In a pretty dress . . . in a 'castle' . . . for a happily EVER after)!

Gotta love the family pictures on a freezing day!
Don't worry, we were glad to participate for you two!

Jen's mom - she is a wonderful lady!
(I would know, I've met her!)

Sadly we couldn't make it to their reception that night (the Christmas one she's been dreaming of for so long) - my poor husband was up all night with some sort of stomach bug. He was exhausted and had literally no energy. We weren't sure if we'd be able to come, but Matt gathered his strength after the worst of it (by about 7 am) and we drove through the canyon to Manti. He is such a great sport! All because he loves me and knew it was important to me (thank you love!).

Love ya Sommerfeldts! Thank you for letting us join you on your very special and happy day!
P.S. LOVED your dress and your HANDMADE veil! - gorgeous!

New Year - What An Adventure

Sorry that we've been pretty dead to the world for the last few weeks (ya know, finals, Christmas break, Nonprofit Management conference in Kansas City, MO; new semester, etc.).

We are doing well though. Enjoying life and loving each other even more now that we have been married for 7 months :)

. . .  We both did better in school this semester than we have in previous semesters!. . .

. . . I will graduate this year! . . .

. . .  Matt is teaching me French - we even watched a movie with French subtitles and I got lots of it . . .

. . . We may have an awesome summer job set up (maybe) . . .

. . . Our apartment got a cool make-over (pictures to come) . . .

. . . We may need a larger apartment in the fall . . .

Welcome 2012! You are sure to bring many new experiences into our lives! :)

Loves!
